Caroline Mariko Stucky is an award-winning Swiss-Japanese filmmaker with a fierce passion for American culture. For Caroline, film, the world of the image, is the ultimate language that trumps the whirling kaleidoscope of spoken languages of her childhood. Her work includes fiction, documentary, commercial, and music videos. With an unusually technical background, Stucky is active as both a cinematographer and director. Stucky has been a member of the International Collective of Female Cinematographers since 2018.

Stucky shot seven music videos for Dave Keuning, guitarist of The Killers, for his debut solo album Prismism, four music videos for the hip-hop artist Chris Gabo, and directed and shot three music videos for the band 2 Story Cabin, filming in New York, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Rome. She directed the pilot episode of Paramour No More, a half-hour TV show created by Rena Carter that was selected at the SeriesFest Season 5 and won the Creator Content Award from Women in Film & Television US. Her most personal film, Us, had its US Premiere at the SAG-AFTRA New York Short Film Showcase in March 2017 and is available on Amazon Prime, and her first two short films Paper Boats and Color/Blind premiered in New York and Los Angeles.

As a director of photography for narrative fiction, her second feature film Solomon, written & directed by J.B. Armstrong, was selected to the 2018 Sundance Detroit Private Master Class and the 2015 Sundance Detroit Screenwriters Intensive Lab, and won Best Film at the 2020 Detroit Black Film Festival, among other recognition. Starfish, her first feature film as a cinematographer, was selected to many film festivals and won the Audience Choice Award at the Mystic Film Festival 2018. Her third feature, Stag, a female-centered horror comedy, will premiere in 2022.

Other work as cinematographer includes The Perfect Bunny, written and directed by multiple Goya Award winner Jorge Laplace, Wishful Whiskers, a children's short starring Ilana Becker and Sophie Knapp. Brunch Wars, written and directed by Kamran Khan, which is a second of four collaboration with producer Pulkit Datta, writer/director of Wishful Whiskers, Carry Me, a show created by Alison Bartlett, Seven Prayers, directed by Todd Carter, Phoenix, directed by Patricia Selznick, and Velour, directed by Miranda Manziano. Forthcoming projects in 2022 include Ladylike, Crow God, What Do I Owe You?, Look Like You, Rising Lotus, Framed, and Stay With Me a Little While.

Stucky has shot content for clients including New York Times, Time’s Up, the Guggenheim Museum, The Brooklyn Museum, Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, Juilliard, the NFL, TED Conferences, Adobe U99 Conference, Facebook, Facebook at the Essence Festival, Disney on Broadway, Bluemercury, Deloitte, Ferrero, Dr. Phil, Medscape, Cartier, Weatherproof Vintage and the Basketball Hall of Fame, to name a few, while working for various companies such as Small Media Extra Large, The Muse, 186 Productions, GoBeyond, Prosper Digital, and Artless Media.

Caroline is the founder and creative director of CM8 Productions, a film and video production company.
